Steven Fares Abi-Richa, affectionately known as Stevie by those closest to him, led an extraordinary life defined by relentless optimism, strength, determination and an unwavering spirit. He was a source of endless joy and inspiration to his beloved family, friends, and community until his peaceful passing. Stevie was the heart and soul of every family gathering – exuberant and full of love and mischief and humor.
Stevie’s creative interests were as boundless as his capacity for love. Whether it was karaoke singing his heart out, twirling/wheeling across a dance floor, or delivering a memorable performance with Acting Antics—a program he held dear since 2006—his joy was infectious. He loved being in front of an audience, and their applause showcased his joy and passion.
Steven's level of pure joy, grit, determination, strength beyond measure & love he had for others goes far beyond anything we could comprehend.
Always up for some serious fun, Stevie competed in many bowling matches with the Special Olympics. And from his early days in the Caln Challenger Baseball League to the echoing cheers at Phillies games with his sister, every sporting adventure became a cherished memory. Even the pure joy of skee-ball and pinball machines in arcades was never lost on him.
Even when navigating life's challenges, Stevie never saw his wheelchair as a barrier, but rather as wings giving him the freedom to explore the world with gusto. Warm sand beneath his wheelchair, the rush of waves at the beach, and the companionship of his sister and family every year were absolute highlights for Stevie. His love for horses, the exhilarating energy of the 'YMCA' dance routine, and the tasty delights found in a scoop of ice cream were some of the simpler things that meant the most to him.
Stevie's capacity for making meaningful connections knew no bounds. No outing was complete without the echoes of his joyful greetings and the warmth of his embraces felt by friends and strangers alike. He made the world a smaller, kinder place, forging bonds with people from all walks of life, and leaving a legacy of love and shared humanity.
In his selfless acts of kindness, Steven's soul shone the brightest. "Steven's Bags," a monumental feat of kindness, exemplified his compassionate nature. He meticulously decorated and filled bags with food and personal items and handed them out to those in need, spreading light and hope on the streets of Kensington and Coatesville – his spirit of giving etched in the many lives he touched.
Steven's legacy of selflessness, love, and limitless joy serves as an eternal guide, urging each one of us to embrace life with enthusiasm, to love with generosity, and to transcend our limitations with grace and resilience. His memory will continue to be a beacon of hope and a testament to a life magnificently lived.
