Gage Purcell

There are no words for the unspeakable grief of losing my son, Gage. However, there are many words for the blessing of having known him and loved him.

Gage was my light in a world of darkness. He was beautiful, funny, clever, and incredibly smart. He loved video games, animals, and Legos, and had a graceful way of enduring hardship without complaint.

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer" Romans 12:12

He is forever 13.

One of my favorite memories of my precious baby, Gage, is from a day he wanted to buy something in a video game. I asked him if he had any money, and of course he didn’t. He disappeared into his room for a moment, then returned and said, “I will pay you in the most powerful currency in the world.” He handed me a little pink Post-it note with a Bible verse written on it—Romans 12:12: “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer.”

Since losing Gage, this verse has always remained close to my heart. Of all the verses in the bible, he chose this one... and I believe this verse is an inspiration.

Thank you Gage... for being you and for donating the gift of life through organ donation.

I love you beyond measure.
I miss you so much.
I am so proud of you, and I am so sorry.
