Christopher Russell Steinmann

My sweet son, Christopher, was a gift from God and an amazing part of my life. He was a loving, kind, bright, and considerate child. Christopher very much enjoyed fishing at the Delaware River with his buddies. He also collected glass marbles and postage stamps, and the building of Legos. He participated in several team sports, his preference as full back for soccer. His favorite was riding his bicycle, ultimately ending his life as he was struck one that beautiful day in May by a speeding motorist who was paying no attention while using her phone.

Christopher was easy going and brought joy to many lives. He had a fun spirit and mischievous personality. I still hear his giggle. He was an avid reader and surprised his 7th grade teacher, an English Literature major, when he shared that his favorite readings were Shakespeare’s sonnets.

Christopher gave the ultimate gift, organ donation, recycling his recovered gifts of life.

Christopher was obsessive about recycling. We often worked related school projects over the weekends; painting fish on storm drains, collecting roadside trash, cleaning up local parks. His spirit for recycling made the donation commitment straightforward.

Christopher taught me that each day is a gift, to be present in the lives of those we love. I thank God for the privilege of being Chris’s mother, and the opportunity to share the moments of his joy, love, and laughter. I am blessed to be his mother.

Love always and forever, your mom, Pam Colvell-Gleason
